Word Spy: how to play

Two teams, one-word clues. Find your agents, avoid the assassin.

Players alternate Red and Blue by seat. The first Red and first Blue player are the spymasters: they see which words belong to which team. Put the board on a TV for everyone else.

On your team’s turn your spymaster gives one word and a number (“ocean, 2”). The clue can’t be a word on the board. Teammates then tap words:

  • Your colour: correct, keep going (up to the number + 1).
  • Other team’s colour: it’s theirs, and your turn ends.
  • Neutral: your turn ends.
  • Assassin: your team loses immediately.

Tap End our turn to stop early. The first team to find all its words wins; the team that starts has one more to find. Options: 5×5 or 4×4 board, a turn timer.
